One of my favorite places I find the “therefore” logic is in the Bible. St. Paul carefully uses his vast intellect and exceptional educational training to set forth a logical case in Colossians 3. It is loaded with reasoning since the old nature is replaced with a new life in Christ.

St. Paul then says, Therefore, as God’s chosen people holy with dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

In other words, God has chosen us, set us apart to God’s will and ways in our lives, and made us very special to God (“beloved”). As new persons, St. Paul says we have:

  • A new ethic of love,
  • A new heart of peace,
  • A new attitude of thanksgiving, and
  • A new passion for Christ.

And, as new persons, these four pieces of apparel are always in season. Throughout all centuries, they are always in style and appropriate!

Tomorrow we will look at what 5 “inside” garments and 2 “outside” garments are in St. Paul’s logic lists.
