THE HOUR HAS COME
The wise King David encouraged us to measure our days and to know the brevity of life (Psalm 39:4-5). He also told us we are like grass, here today, gone tomorrow and remembered no more (Psalm 103:15-16). Jesus asked us why we worried about what we eat, or what we drink, or what we wear (Matthew 6:25-33).
One hour goes by so quickly, let alone one minute or 60 nanoseconds. Gone forever.
- Ask Todd. He dove into the majestic Hawaiian surf. In a nanosecond, Todd became a quadriplegic. The hour had come.
- Ask March Madness players/coaches. The hour has come. Two great teams face off to play in the Final Four. Later, one nanosecond decides the win or the loss. Members of one team celebrate with wild enthusiasm; the other team members hug each other in tears.
- The hour comes for everyone. No one escapes that hour, even those reading this blog.
The hour had come for Jesus. It was time for the Son of God to be glorified (John 17:1). He had to live through the most horrific punishment to be glorified.
Today, over 2000 years later, the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified through millions upon millions who have been born again. Jesus did what He did to give us the grace and power to face it when the hour comes to each of us.
