KNOW THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH

Have you heard these quotes about Truth?

Have you heard these quotes about Truth?

  • “Truth is beauty; beauty is Truth.” John Keats
  • “In a time of universal deceit, telling the Truth is a revolutionary act.”
  • “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the Truth is putting on its shoes.”
  • “Facts are many, but the Truth is one.”
  • “The Truth is rarely pure and never simple.”
  • “You are slow of heart and foolish if you do not believe the Truth spoken by the prophets.” (Luke 24:25-27)

These quotes show the necessity of examining belief systems about the vast philosophical subject of Truth and falsehoods.

Therefore, we have three questions: Is there a Spirit of Truth? If there is a Spirit of Truth, how can we know it? Is it possible to prove it as we know it?

Jesus made a profound declaration: “I am the way, the Truth, and the life.” Without the way, there is no Truth, and without the Truth, there is no life.

Great thinkers and miraculous minds have pondered the meaning of Truth over the centuries. In my college days, a Master’s degree assignment was to be as factual as possible in our writing on Truth. Let me be honest, at that time I was far from the great philosophers of Aristotle and Plato. My great thinkers were basketball and football coaches. I had little interest in the thought processes of philosophy, psychology, or theology. However, that assignment began my contemplation of Truth.

Yet, it was not until I experienced the miracle of being born again that I came to see the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as my ultimate source of Truth. Forty days after the resurrection about 120 followers of Jesus Christ received the SPIRIT OF TRUTH. This SPIRIT OF TRUTH Jesus called the Comforter, the third person of the trinity who would live within our bodies called His temples. The Comforter changed the lives of these men and women from despair to hope, fear to courage, lethargy to passion, failure to victory. Then from this band of brothers and sisters came a change in the world. More hospitals, schools, universities, charitable groups are now empowered by the true SPIRIT OF TRUTH than by any other.

Please consider your relationship with the SPIRIT OF TRUTH. Men of all ages have examined Jesus Christ and the Comforter and have made the wholehearted discovery that Jesus’ statements are true. He said: “I am the way, the Truth and the life. No man comes to God the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).  He also said: “You will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

Truth does liberate, but Truth does precede the liberation.
