EASY TO COME OUT

While purification is the coming out, it is not the staying out stage. Staying out is much more difficult. It is easy to come out, harder to stay out.

Although adaptable, the body does not like change. Homeostasis is a place of comfort; it is stable equilibrium. Over time, homeostasis is set like hard cement. Be it mental or physical however, some constant change is vital to health.

An example is what an orthodontist deals with daily. A patient spends big money to have crooked teeth straightened to perfection. Then, to keep the teeth straight, wearing a retainer every night is necessary. To forget to wear the retainer causes the teeth to return to the former crooked state.

Another example is a wild beast. It is said that a giant crocodile can devour this wild beast in one meal. Then this one meal can last as long as six months.

Likewise, addiction is like these two examples. Addiction can go into quiet mode for months and even years. The moment the guard is let down, the recovering addict can be attacked. This is just like a giant crocodile that grapples an unsuspecting animal’s neck.

To relate to the come out and stay out mode, here are two questions:

  1. What is one thing in your life you need to come out of?
  2. How do you plan to come out and stay out?

If we fail to plan, we plan to fail. Daily the guard rail needs to be kept up. Also, a daily mentor can be of help.
