Words of Hope: The Greater Miracle
The word “passion” means to suffer with someone for the sake of love. Christ hanging on the cross out of love for humanity inspired the creation of this important word. In church, we were asked to consider which would be more miraculous— Jesus coming down off the cross and crushing all His enemies and scoffers or Jesus staying on the cross.
Anyone going through tremendous suffering can recognize just how easy it would be to tap out and get out of the pain. Quitting would have been easy. Getting off the cross, a comfort and relief.
To have the power to go through some of the most pain a person can endure and submit to it for the sake of something greater based on willpower is the most miraculous.
Skeptics should reconsider how they define the parameters for conditions for their belief. Instead of demanding signs from God as proof of existence- they should wonder at what is keeping them from seeing the truly miraculous.
The will of Jesus to stay on the cross for us is truly a mind blowing miracle. This is His passion: love that held Him tenaciously to the cross to suffer beyond description for our sake.
“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” – Philippians 2:8
