THE MANY GIFTS OF CREATION
Imagine five majestic deer enhancing the Crowell home view of one of America’s best places to raise children and live a peaceful life: Spokane, Washington. It is our seasonal autumn time of the year. How magnificent to look out our window to see our beloved city with five deer lying on our groomed lawn. Another day there were 17 turkeys having lunch!
And, how many other cities can claim a roaring river streaming through its city center? At its peak, the mighty Spokane River flows about 3.4 million gallons of water every 24 hours. This is equivalent to filling one football field one mile deep.
Like your city, town or village, Spokane shouts loud and clear the glory of God. It is expressed so beautifully and elegantly in nature. The gifts of creation remind us of Psalm 19: “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands…there is no speech or language where their words are not heard.”
Thanksgiving month is the time of year to cultivate a thankful HEART to feel, grateful EYES to see and open EARS to hear nature’s loud cry of God’s glory to all the world. All of God’s creative genius displays His craftsmanship; from the skies to the mountains, to the rivers, to the lakes, to the oceans.
There is no place on earth where we cannot see the grace and love of our marvelous Creator and the power of who He is. We just need to slow down and give undivided attention to His day and night message, silent as it is in creation. It is breathtaking!
