CHANGE IS INEVITABLE
Change is all around us! There is a constant alteration, meaning a difference from one condition to another. Look at the world events, seasons, day and night, daylight savings time, government, legal laws, athletic teams and games, an individual’s age and appearance through the years. We even change our minds!
Often we try to change others, but we really can change only ourselves. Yet at times change is mentally and emotionally difficult for all creation, especially human beings. Changes push us out of our comfort zone, and they definitely are not partial to a particular individual. They are for the better or for the worst.
The underlying premise is change requires a choice, an act of the will. If circumstances force the change, embrace it as a good thing.
As far as I can tell, there is only one unchangeable. The Wise Book says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” My heart delights that yesterday, in past history, God showed us what He is like. Then, today, the current age, we have fellowship with that same Biblical person. Further, tomorrow, forever eternity, our hope hinges on our enjoying that same Biblical person everlastingly.
My 6’6″, 240-lb., a special friend was also a giant of a man and a basketball player. He held his university’s all-time rebounding record. Still, he could not defeat cancer. He was reduced to 160 pounds and only able to whisper. During his last days, he motioned for me to be very close to him so my ear could hear one of his last whispers: “I never thought it would come to this.”
Only Jesus Christ is the same. A guarantee. Yesterday, today, and forever.
