Words of Hope : Just Like That

My daughter Natalya prayed every night for months that her sister would have red hair like Ariel from The Little Mermaid. At first, we thought she would outgrow it, but she was relentless. She would place her hand solemnly on my pregnant belly and pray with all earnestness and fervor.

We expected her to quit. As she continued, we became more alarmed because we don’t have red hair in our family lines.

And just like that, Ari was born with bright red hair.

I have been praying for years about a few things. One of them was answered recently, just like that. It is another mundane day when the news arrives. I don’t know if I expected more fanfare, warning, or pomp and circumstance. Around the corner is the burning bush! Just like that.

I picture God delighting in this. A God of miracles and surprises, never predictable or telegraphing the outcome.

He tells us to wait, to keep praying, to maintain the earnest heart and unwavering faith. The prayer is coming, but I’m not telling you when. Be ready, in position and it will arrive…just like that.

Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. – Isaiah 65:24
