Words of Hope: Invisible Cathedrals

As my husband Shann and I meet with Goldenwood, this unique community not only prayerfully considers gifting but more powerful considerations. They ask these two key questions:

Who are the people God placed in your life to work alongside with?

What has He asked you to build with these people using your gifts?

Mission, meaning, community, and eternal mindfulness are found in these important questions.

I think of the work at NBC Camps Dad devoted his life to build. How much suffering and beauty he poured into this work! I consider this as I sit in a cathedral that took over a hundred years to build. People beginning the work never seeing the outcome with their physical eyes.

This is the power of Christ-infused work behind the visible veil. We work for an invisible world that surpasses the material realm.

It’s easy to become caught up in the tangible aspects of our work – money, numbers, security, or accolades and we move our eyes away from what matters.

But God is asking us to build invisible castles made of eternal materials – listening, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, healing, restorative power, justice, humility, faith, hope, and love.

“He has shown you what is good; and what the Lord requires of you. To do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” – Micah 6:8
