Each 2021 Wednesday, Words of Hope will focus on the personal skill development of being wise. It will be designated WISDOM WEDNESDAY.
The first Wednesday of 2021 is January 6th. The first of the 150 Biblical Psalms gives us four crucible skills to grow our wisdom factor. In fact, these four skills are negativities to avoid; wise people have a crystal clear idea of what they will NOT do under any circumstance. Psalm 1 instructs people who wish to be wise to:
- Do not ask negative people for advice.
- Do not hang out with people of poor character.
- Do not sit around with lazy complainers.
- Do not become a clone of a materialistic society.
People of wisdom take action. Be wise at this moment. The first step is identifying people who drain you and pull you down. Reduce your exposure to them. Such socializing will sap your life of meaning and joy.
Remember, although you are on a timeline now — birth, life, death — yet God has put eternity in our hearts. Someday we will fully grasp our full eternal purpose. C.S. Lewis said it this way: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
