HINDS FEET

Difficulties and troubles in this world often cause us to cry out unthinkingly for help to be strong, brave, and invincible. Even for me, the medical field has told me the best way to beat cancer is to have a never-quit attitude. A nurse said, “Once a patient or a crucial other says to QUIT, it is essentially over.”

In the Bible, the prophet Habakkuk described it as having “hinds’ feet.”  This is the remarkable skill of an animal able to walk swiftly even in high, dangerous places.  Here are some other quite descriptive words: light-footed, springing, with ease, buoyant, soaring above yet graceful. Can you picture this?

Having mental hinds’ feet is possible with God’s strength, bravery, invincibility. However, many times strong, brave, and invincible character qualities come after some pain, failure or disappointment.

October 13, 1994, was the turning point for a man I know very well. His life crashed. It was a give-up day. Life offered no hope. It was, roll over and quit.  OR it was, roll over the other direction and turn to the Lord. He chose Jesus Christ. This is how Mr. Hero explains his feelings.

“I woke early in total despair. I thought my life had ended. I dropped to my knees and prayed to God, ‘Jesus, I give up. I give my life to You. Please change my life.’ “

Now, 26 years later, this man is strong, brave, and invincible. Each day he wakes to love and serve others. He lives in freedom and peace. A living confirmation of God transforming his life. Hinds’ feet can take us to the top of the mountain!

Habakkuk 3:19 (Amplified): The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility].”
