Words of Hope: RPE4FJC
My brother and I made some rocks to give at the Celebration of Life with the letters RPE4FJC. RPE stands for Relentless Pursuit of Excellence-one of Dad’s favorite reminders. Excellence means greatness or distinction, to tower above. Relentless means dogged determination, unyielding, devoted without deviation. The letters and one number 4FJC, means to pursue RPE in honor of Fred J. Crowell. The rock with these letters is a physical reminder to pursue excellence with all our heart, mind, and soul to honor Dad. Here are a few ways I want to immediately apply this reminder.
- Silence and solitude prepare the way for God’s voice.
- Prayer is as necessary as water and air.
- An attitude of anxiety or gratitude is a simple choice.
- Anger cannot bring about the righteous life God requires.
- Encouragement is the best motivation.
I like to hold this reminder rock in my pocket. I forget it is there, then I feel the smooth, cool aspect of the stone and immediately remember to think like dad.
And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound (excel) in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you, so that your hearts are strengthened in holiness to be blameless before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. – 1 Thessalonians 3:12
