WISDOM WEDNESDAY: MAKING SENSE OUT OF NONSENSE
Have you considered that NONSENSE MEANS NO SENSE? It is an indicator of lacking good sense, judgment, or real meaning. Therefore, nonsense becomes foolishness.
A brilliant historian was asked to give the two biggest surprises of his lifetime. His reply: “The rapid moral decay of society and the vast advancement of knowledge.”
I surely agree with this wise man. Yet, I have an additional surprise. I speak of the matter called NONSENSE. Daily I read, hear and watch NONSENSE. Do these masters of nonsense really believe what they are saying? Whatever happened to logic and good sense? Why do we hear some ardent leaders consider their thoughts as the truth, yet we see confusion, frustration, distrust, blame, and excuse-making? These are not the results of real truth.
I realize this is a complex discussion. However, in reality, there is just one way to make sense out of nonsense. The Holy Book, with God’s wisdom, does have answers. Through the cross, the wisdom of scholars and philosophers of this age does not match the wisdom of God. Why? He is the Creator and Source of all life and wisdom! The elementary principles of this world become empty and often deceiving.
A couple of wise explanations for me from God’s Book are:
- “More often a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” – Proverbs 12:15.
- “For the foolishness of God (nonsense) is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.” – I Corinthians 1:25.
