EXPAND YOUR HAPPINESS

For years at NBC Basketball camps, the crucible question I asked was: “Where are you?”

The correct response was: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!”

Many say if we spend time living in the past, depression becomes more likely; and if we live in the future, anxiety is more likely.  Based on my life experience, I believe this is true.

Living right here, right now, however, is living in reality.  We cannot control the past or future.  We can control our living in the right now present.

A recent study of 5,000 people by psychologists Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert of Harvard University reports adults spend only about 50% of their time in the present moment.

I am glad this study validates the importance of teaching our youth to master the most difficult life skill of being right here, right now.  It is rewarding.

It delights me much more to brag about the Lord Jesus Christ, who lived and spoke in the present.  He was not known as many today call “the Harvard prestigious.”  Still, others acknowledged Him as far less than His claimed title of King of kings and Lord of lords.

Amazingly, it was not necessary for Jesus to research 5,000 people.  He knew living right here, right now was a secret to happiness. Therefore, He gave insights into true happiness recorded in His book.  There we have a perfect plan to expand happiness.  His basis was a heart of forgiveness which frees up and cleans out room for true happiness.

I encourage you to study, research and practice the Jesus Happiness Plan.  It works.  I know.  My last 52 years are my proof.  When I live it, I am happy.  When I don’t live it, my happiness evaporates.

Here is the beginning from Matthew 6:25, 33: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
